President Donald Trump said the United States is not low on munitions, calling such claims untrue and saying the country has more munitions than it could ever use.
Trump also said the U.S. is currently building up its munitions stockpiles at levels he described as unprecedented.

The Department of War announced on August 31 that it had signed two seven-year framework agreements with General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems and Lockheed Martin aimed at significantly expanding domestic production and accelerating deliveries of critical missile subcomponents used in the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD, and Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement, or PAC-3 MSE, interceptor programs. The department said the agreements establish multiyear procurement frameworks intended to increase production quantities and shorten delivery timelines as the United States seeks to expand its capacity to manufacture air and missile defense systems.
Under the agreements, the department said General Dynamics will rapidly scale up production of specialized interceptor components, with a goal of tripling PAC-3 MSE interceptor production capacity and quadrupling THAAD interceptor production capacity. The effort will also increase manufacturing of key subcomponents, including motor cases, seeker housings and midsections, as well as shroud deployment systems. According to the department, the seven-year agreements are intended to give General Dynamics and its lower-tier suppliers greater certainty about future demand, allowing them to make longer-term investments in workforce expansion, bulk material purchases and facility upgrades.
Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment Michael P. Duffey said the agreements reflect a change in how the department works with industry, with an emphasis on expanding domestic manufacturing capacity and reducing the time required to deliver air and missile defense capabilities. The department said the agreements with General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin are part of an effort to expand what it described as the “Arsenal of Freedom” and increase production capacity. Funding for the agreements remains subject to annual appropriations, meaning future procurement will depend on funding approved through the annual appropriations process.
